Welcome to the GTP February 2013

"Humanity and Conflict Resolution"

Learning Circle

Human beings have always sought to live together in harmonious groupings where they feel safe, secure, valued and productive. Human beings create cultures where they share common values traditions and goals. In our past and still today in 2013, humankind see conflicting values within the varied and multiple cultures on our planet. With the age of globalization, a shrinking world and communication at our fingertips which moves at light speed around the planet, should our values and beliefs still collide?  Do we share common universal human values or a common humanity? Will we move, through peace and non violence, toward human development and survival and not human destruction?

To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.

News Phase 5: Summarizing

Week 9: 15 April - 21 April 2013

News

Dear participants,

We hope all is well and we welcome you, according to the Timeline to the Summarizing phase of the Humanity and Conflict Resolution LC.

This 2-week phase is meant for organizing, summarizing and reflecting on the information received. At the same time we urge to hc2, hc4, hc6 groups to post their answers as soon as possible. We ask hc1, hc3, hc5 to post missing answers too.

A general format for reviewing the responses might be to address the following questions:

1. Why did we ask the question?

2. What did we know about the theme when we started?

3. What did we learn in our classroom?

4. What did we expect to learn?

5. What did we learn from the responses of the students?

6. What were the differences in the different countries?

7. Why do we think these differences exist?

8. What are the consequences of the differences for a country?

Important!

On the April 17th we'll have Critical Thinking Webinar 3

Wish you success in the week ahead and looking forward reading your contributions…
